Join the PENCIL community of nearly 10,000 individuals who have participated in one of New York City’s most enduring and prestigious opportunities to support public education. Traditionally an in-person opportunity to spend a day in a public school, in 2020, PENCIL hosted unique webinars and virtual experiences for corporate leaders to gain insight into NYC public schools. We invite you to express your interest in future events to learn from principals and interact with students as they share their school’s experiences. Past participants have included Academy Award-winner Frances McDormand, Former Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, Jerry Seinfeld, and ABC anchor and Emmy winner Juju Chang, as well as hundreds of CEOs and senior leaders from companies like A+E Networks, Facebook, Google, Hearst, Infosys, JP Morgan Chase, NBC Universal, Empire BlueCross BlueShield, Viacom, and many more.Sign Up to Learn more
Since 1995 more than 1,000 New York City public schools have opened their doors to visiting Principals For A Day. In 2020, educators and executives connected virtually to share insight and knowledge in lieu of in-person visits. Participants are often interested in learning about the ins and outs of daily school leadership or interacting directly with students and teachers. As a school leader, you can participate in a variety of PENCIL’s programs that can highlight your school’s strengths and give your students an opportunity to learn about a new industry or career path. Many of PENCIL’s ongoing school/business partnerships began with a Principal For A Day® experience and we hope our upcoming events can launch many more long standing relationships!
Since 1995, NYC’s social entrepreneurs, business and civic leaders have shown up for PENCIL’s Principal For A Day® as the first step in their commitment to open minds, open eyes, and open doors for tens of thousands of public school students. Will you be next?
Thank you PENCIL, Inc. for the opportunity to create a holding space for school leaders to share their how they are leading their schools in the midst of all the tragedies we are experiencing in America, as well as the hopefulness of change permeating all around us.
As a product of public school, it was a thrill participating in the Principal for a Day program. Shadowed faculty, met with every grade and shared my academic journey along with the world of experiential marketing with the class of 2019.
What an amazing experience it was to talk to middle and high school students about their future career paths, technology, business, entrepreneurship, & social media!
