    Since 1995, NYC’s social entrepreneurs, business and civic leaders have shown up for PENCIL’s Principal For A Day® as the first step in their commitment to open minds, open eyes, and open doors for tens of thousands of public school students.

  • School Partnerships

    PENCIL connects business and school leaders to leverage their collective energies and foster stronger schools, and to prepare students for college and career success. PENCIL serves as a critical liaison in these partnerships, providing hands-on support in the design, implementation, and evaluation of activities.

  • Internship Programs

    Each year, PENCIL connects over 1,000 students across New York with career readiness and professional skills training. PENCIL works to place these students in paid summer internships and virtual work-based learning opportunities. PENCIL is a proud provider of the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development's Ladders for Leaders Program and partner in the RXR/PENCIL Internship Program.

This week, PENCIL held an Alumni and Young Profess This week, PENCIL held an Alumni and Young Professionals event featuring a panel of dedicated PENCIL volunteers who shared insights from their career journeys, how they approach professional growth, and the role networking plays in long-term success. Events like these help strengthen the PENCIL community and provide valuable connections and insights for the next generation of professionals.

OUTFRONT volunteers worked with students to strengthen their resumes and build the skills they need for college and career success. Dan Schoenberg, founder of Hummingbird Sports & En Dan Schoenberg, founder of Hummingbird Sports & Entertainment, kicked off his PENCIL Partnership Program with the @businessofsportsschool! Students learned how he broke into the sports industry and got an inside look at the world of sports and entertainment, including some unforgettable celebrity stories. His insights and experiences offered students a firsthand look at the many paths to a career in sports and entertainment.

Students explored Snap’s work and culture, learned about career pathways, participated in a panel discussion, connected through small group speed networking, and were introduced to the exciting world of augmented reality.
