30 Years of Impact: A Message from PENCIL Board Chair Jo Lambert
It is an honor to join in celebrating PENCIL‘s 30th anniversary as Board Chair.
For three decades, PENCIL has been a powerful force in New York City, opening doors for students by connecting them to the relationships, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive. Its mission — to connect students to success — is more than just a slogan. It’s a promise, fulfilled every day through partnerships between public schools and the business community.
My own journey with PENCIL began in 2017, when I attended their Gala as a guest of a Board Member. The energy in the room was electric, and the positive impact business partnerships have on students’ success was undeniable. I knew immediately that I wanted to be part of this important work. Joining the Board was one of the easiest and most meaningful decisions I’ve made.
They’ve reminded me that while we may not have all the answers, what we can offer — our time, our knowledge, our networks — can help a young person take one more step toward their goals.
As we celebrate 30 years of impact, I invite you to join us. There is a role for everyone in this work, whether as a volunteer, a donor, or a corporate partner. Together, we can help ensure every NYC student has access to a brighter future.
