Mariel Zelhart graduated from Lipscomb University with a B.A. in Law, Justice and Society, with a focus on Conflict Management. After college, she was accepted into the AmeriCorps Vista program, where she worked to develop a streamlined and centralized process for matching individuals experiencing homelessness to available housing and service opportunities. That role ignited Mariel’s passion for working with the homeless population and opened the door to a position at a local non-profit as the Homeless Outreach Employment Specialist. Prior to joining PENCIL, she worked at a Bar Association creating Continuing Education events for the legal community. She is excited to work for PENCIL and to continue actively assisting non-profits with building better communities.
