Francine joined the team as a Program Internship Coordinator this year.
She was born and raised in New York and New Jersey and is a first-generation U.S. citizen. Her entire family is from Liberia, located on the west coast of Africa. She spent most of her academic life attending Catholic private schools until attending Rutgers University-Newark and graduating in 2016. In her spare time, she loves to meditate, read books, write poems, volunteer, spend time with friends and family, watch horror movies and go shopping.
We also asked Francine what drew her to PENCIL and she had this to say: “I grew up as an inner-city youth, and although I was fortunately exposed to great educational opportunities, I had friends and neighbors that could not say the same. Therefore, I am very passionate about working with organizations that create opportunities of success for diverse sets of students.”
Thank you for sharing, Francine! We are so happy to have you on the team!
